The Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge is a multiple choice style assessment. It consists of two (2) books, each with 150 multiple-choice type questions. Each book is given in a three (3) hour session. The sessions are held in the morning and afternoon of one day. For more information regarding the process used to select questions and regarding the processes used to analyze and test equate assessments click here.

A participant has the privilege of taking the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge three (3) times.
* In order to assure the consistency of scores on all the versions of the Assessments, the NDEB uses a test equating procedure. This procedure correlates a standardized reference examination with the current version of the examination and determines the standardized mark.
